TikTok Trends: How To Stay Up To Date

By Alanna Moore

Looking to boost your TikTok account? Hoping to finally have a video go viral? Want to get noticed by your favourite TikTok stars? One of the best ways to do so is to hop on viral TikTok trends and make them your own, and here are a few tips on how to see what’s hot on the popular app at any point in time.

Check Out Trending Sounds

The simplest way to see which sounds are currently trending on TikTok is to go on the Discover page and search terms such as “Top Trending Sounds,” “Popular Sounds,” or “Viral Sounds” then hit the “Sounds” tab and search through the different sounds on that page. Or, when you’re in the process of making your TikTok, go to “add sound” and listen to the options in the “TikTok Viral” playlist to see which fits the mood of your video best.

Using a trending sound helps your TikTok get noticed because it shows up on the page associated with the sound you chose, which people from all over the globe are likely to be looking through when the sound becomes popular.

Search Popular Hashtags

Like on most social media apps, hashtags are a great way to find information. So, when trying to discover the “it” trends on TikTok, hashtags are a helpful tool. Spend some time searching through hashtags such as #viral (11146B+ views), #trending (2643B+ views), #viraltiktok (256B+ views), #tiktoktrending (12B+ views), and #tiktoktrend (10B+ views) and before you know it, you’ll have tons of ideas for content based on what everyone’s into on the app right now. And of course, use similar hashtags when posting your own video so you show up on the same pages you were searching through beforehand.

Do Your Research

Just like when studying in school, the best way to learn about current TikTok trends is to do your research. By this, I mean going beyond the TikTok app itself and heading to websites that report on what’s trending on the app at a given time. Some of Brand’s Media Group’s go-to sites to help keep up with trends include Later, Invideo, and Slaying Social.
