Using Visual Content To Grow Your Brand
Written by Trinity Duong
Visual content has become society’s number one tool towards engagement. Capturing a viewer’s attention span has never been easier. Quick scrolling generates an overload of information that can be accessed by a quick glance and share and this need for visual components will only increase with the online presence created by the pandemic going into 2021. If you haven’t hopped onto a visual approach it’s necessary you do in order to grow awareness and platform users. The decline of modern-day Facebook users and the increase in Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest users have everything to do with easy access information. With eye-catching content, your own social media will perform better than those without these elements. With the fast-paced digital society, more users are likely to stop and analyze a photograph than read a wordy paragraph. Our brains process visual information much easier than we do words.
However, there has been an overload of media that has desensitized active users and reduced their shock factor to engage with the work being put out.
So how do we go about creating the best visuals for our audiences?
1) Consistency
It is necessary that your visuals go along with your brand’s motives and aligns with their aesthetic. Being aware of your marketing strategy will help you in identifying what content you should publish. Everything you put out should have a purpose and strategy because your brand’s appearance is what will entice viewers into clicking, viewing, and sharing your work. Things you can look over are the basics. Ensure that your logo, fonts, and style matches the same energy and produce work that enhances this nature. Graphic design should always be at the forefront of your mind. Crafting visually appealing work creates effective content and garners a loyal audience. Some tips for better visuals are the utilization of negative space, color scheme and complementary palettes, and font styles. There should also be direct coherency between these elements for understandable and memorable work.
2) Sizing and Variety
Everything about your image must be correct. This ultimately begins with sizing. Because every image sharing platform has specific measurements for what you publish it’s important you meet them for the highest quality. If you plan to use the same image for all platforms it can result in some pixelations and unwanted blurry or cut-off final products so ensure that before hitting publish that you have the right proportions. Some basics for Instagram are 180 x 180 pixels for your profile photo, 1080 x 1080 pixels for a post, and 1080 x 1920 pixels for your story posts. You can find measurements for practically any platform through a simple Google search. Variety is also important and playing around with different filters or animations draws a lot more attention. At times audio can water down important key elements, that’s why GIFs have had an increase in usage. Find and play around with different editing applications and sites to find what fits your brand the best.
3) Content Accessibility
Through repurposing content in other fields, you can create eye-catching content. For example, if you have a blog post that discusses many interesting notions, by repurposing the content into something more visual and downsizing the attention span needed to understand the work you can gain more viewers. In having more viewers you can also redirect them to the spaces you wanted to have more reach in through linking your other websites and social media. Making your content more digestible will also make it more accessible. It is also important to have a lot of inclusivity in each post for more access. Create a community that has no limits.
The best visuals come from a positively curated and decision-based creative network. Know your brand, know your audience and choose what’s best in terms of quality.
