3 New Instagram Features
Written by Alanna Moore
As always, the world of social media is changing — and Instagram is no different. This much-loved app is always coming out with new updates. Instagram recently announced new features for both regular users and Business Accounts. We’re here to tell you about three of the major ones that you’re going to want to know for 2023.
You can now delete specific photos from a carousel post
The moment many of us have been waiting for! Images in a carousel post can now be edited and removed by users. So, you don’t have to delete your post entirely, you can just delete selected photos.
Here’s how to do it:
Go to your carousel post
Tap on the three-dots icon
Press “Edit”
Click the trash can icon on the left for any photos you want to remove
Plus, there’s a 30-day option to re-add the photos if you decide to change your mind, so you can delete now and reconsider later.
Posts can be scheduled directly on Instagram
At the end of 2022, Instagram introduced "Scheduled Posts,” which makes any social media manager’s job a little simpler. You can use this function to schedule posts in advance, helping save many people time and allowing profile activity to be maintained.
This update is only possible for users that have their account set to a Business Account.
All you have to do is go to “Advanced Settings” and click “Schedule this post,” then choose the time and date you want the content to go live. Then, the rest is done for you! You’re able to schedule a photo, video, carousel, or Reel up to 75 days in advance.
Instagram navigation is changing (again)
In February, Instagram's navigation bar will look different than we’re used to. “The navigation bar at the bottom of the app will now have the shortcut for creating content in the center and Reels to the right,” Instagram explains.
That also means the Instagram Shop will be gone as part of this update. But no need to fear, that doesn’t mean the end of shopping on Instagram. You’ll still be able to set up and manage your shop on Instagram and users will continue to be able to find their favourite shops across feeds, stories, reels, and ads.
