Is It Too Late to Start a Podcast?

Written by Alanna Moore

The podcast industry has gained immense popularity within the last decade, but how relevant is it now? Many people might think it’s too late to launch their own podcast, but we're here to assure you that there's still time. Take it from us: it’s never too late! The team at Brand's Media Group launched our own podcast BMG Talk in December 2022 and we believe if podcasting is always something you’ve wanted to do, you should turn that dream into a reality.

First of all, the podcast market is still expanding. Even though it might seem like there are a lot of podcasts already, the industry is still in its early days. So really, there’s no harm in trying.

Second, podcasts present a special chance to interact with your community. Podcasts give listeners the chance to hear your voice and get to know you in a different way than on your social media platforms. Just because there’s already a bunch out there doesn’t mean there isn’t room for yours!

Finally, launching a podcast can be exciting and super rewarding. You get to discuss subjects you're interested in, interact with unique guests, and create a community. Like our Social Media Coordinator Ashley Merveille-Lovinsky said to us, “If you have something you’re passionate about to the point where you can discuss it for hours on end, you should still make a podcast no matter how many there are out there now. Your unique perspective, your experience, and your opinions should be shared if you want an outlet.”

So, why’d we start BMG Talk? It started as an idea that we simply couldn’t wait to bring to life. Basically, the idea was that we already have so many interesting and insightful conversations between the BMG team, so we decided why not share them with the world? And that’s exactly what we did. As the host and editor of the podcast, I spent a lot of time researching the fundamentals of podcasting and have learned a ton in the process. The goal of BMG Talk is to give our listeners useful information and an understanding of the rapidly evolving world of social media while building a deeper connection with our community.

Finally, if you've been thinking about beginning a podcast, there’s no better time than now! The market is still expanding. Statista predicts that the number of people who listen to podcasts is expected to continue to rise in 2024 to over 100 million listeners. If you need some motivation when preparing to start your own, you can tune into BMG Talk for a little inspiration! Let us know what you think of our podcast below.
