Creative Escapes During Lockdown

Written by Trinity Duong

It’s no secret a global pandemic has taken over every single person’s life for the past 10 months. With the evolution of Covid-19 alone time has been taken to a whole other level and the bed that we once longed for after a hard day’s work has become our work office. Lockdown has taken a toll on the lot of us and has created realities we never thought we would have to face. But it’s here and it’s happening.

When Paris re-entered lockdown in November it felt as if the world was crumbling. Not another one is the first thing that clicked in each resident’s head. Having gone through it and receiving the freedoms we so desired only to be put back months later was a difficult thing to deal with. Questions like how will I live without my friends or how can I stay in this small space for that long racked our heads. And it was a difficult understanding to cope with. However having been in lockdown for a few weeks, it’s safe to say it wasn’t this dreadful bore we all thought it would be. It’s been quite peaceful to realign what you find essential to your life and it’s an incredible way to harvest new hobbies to pass the time.

Creative escapes are the stairway to heaven and it comes in millions upon millions of forms and ideas. It can come from within you or can be inspired by certain elements around you. However, you choose to find it, know that it’s always around you. The best creative experiences for the Brand’s Media Group team has been content creation. Whether it’s for business or personal use we always get around to it not only because we love keeping our social media updated but because the mere act of taking photos is a thrill. Putting on your favorite outfit, throwing your hair into your favorite style, and touching up your makeup using the latest trends is sure to keep you entertained from the beginning. Then you get to choose a location, shoot your best angles, and obsess over the results is a creative escape unlike any other.

However, it’s known that not everyone has the time to execute all these ideas and rather they find themselves consumed by work or errands they need to accomplish. This shouldn’t stop your creative escape. Yes, you're doing work, and your time frame is limited but there are so many tiny details that can enhance your environment and make work feel more exciting. One of the ways to do this is to turn on music. If you’re easily distracted you can search up many songs on streaming platforms that don’t have words therefore it’s just a nice soft tune in your ear. There are also a lot of genres that don’t have many words such as Jazz, Classical, Frequency, Lo-Fi Beats, and many more.

Another important factor to a busy workday in lockdown is meals. This can be the one part of your day that you have somewhat of a break and that is why you need to take full advantage of this and get creative. Buy a cookbook or search for new recipes online. Being able to produce and taste new dishes will allow for not only flavor to enter your life but also a new found difference in your schedule.

No matter the severity of your lockdown, keeping multiple creative escapes have a significant effect on the well being of your mind and soul. Even just subtle details like background music or switching up your routine will make the days stuck inside pass easier and smoother.

Let us know what are some of your creative escapes and how do you see it bettering your isolated environment.
